The Man at the End of the World

Tierra del Fuego, Spanish for “Land of Fire”, is an archipelago off the southernmost tip of the South American mainland, across the Strait of Magellan. The archipelago consists of a main island, Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego, often called simply Tierra del Fuego or Isla Grande and a group of smaller islands. The main island is split between two countries: Argentina (39%) and Chile (61%). Source: Wikipedia

Germán Genskowski and his wife live on the scenic shores of Lago Fagnano, a location ripe for tourism and on the brink of major government-sponsored development. The Man at the End of the World explores the estancia way of life, born out of isolation and a passion for working the land, and how tourism could be the thing that saves it.

People are very attached to comfort and modernity. So they don’t go to places where they can’t find it.
